Each step narrows the one before it. Skipping straight from a symptom to a marketplace search is where most wrong orders begin, because it skips the model — the step that separates parts which look identical.

Before you order — four checks

  1. Is the model right? Not the brand, not the family — the exact model. Similar-looking models take different parts. How to verify a toilet model
  2. Is the document current? Parts lists are republished by revision and the contents change. Why the revision matters
  3. Has the number been replaced? Manufacturers move numbers forward without renaming the part. What “superseded by” means
  4. Is the variant right? Colour, handedness and profile are usually separate part numbers, not options. Why identical-looking parts differ
